Connor

Connor William Michael is my second born son. He is ten years old. He is a ray of sunshine! He has always made us laugh! Connor has my grandpa's smile and personality. Just like my Grandpa, Connor has never met a stranger! Connor has always been able to entertain himself even when he was really little. He has always been such a monkey and loves to climb on things!!! Connor has two middle names after our grandfathers whom we were closest to. My Grandpa's middle name is William and Jeff's Grandfather somehow got the nickname "Mike" and went by that. We couldn't agree on either name for a first name so we chose our own name! I love the meaning of Connor's names. Connor means "wise". William means "determined guardian". Michael means "who is like God". I think his name is very fitting for him! Connor has loved baseball ever since he could hold a ball and bat in his hand. He is a natural! He loves playing sports. Baseball and basketball are his favorites. He loves this time of year when he gets to play basketball and then go right into playing baseball! Connor does very well in school and is loved by everyone. He is in the 4th Grade at Wright Christian. Like his brother, he also plays basketball for the 4th/5th Grade team at Wright. Connor is very servant-hearted and loves to help in any way he can. He is also very giving of himself. He loves to help in the nursery at church and is gifted with working with children. I really think God will use his gift in his career choice someday. Connor not only loves working with other children but is great with his little sister. I am very proud of him and all of his accomplishments. I can't believe that 10 years has already passed. I am very excited to see where God takes him in his life. Connor just loves life and everything about God's world!

Basketball and More Basketball!!!

Today was filled with basketball!! (last night also!!!) We started out our weekend last night full of basketball also! Jeff did the PA announcing at Wright for the Varsity Boys and Girls while I was at church with our Pink Roses Cheerleaders! They did great for their first game! They were all so cute in their little uniforms!! This morning started off with Connor playing basketball for the 4th/5th grade Wright team. Connor played well and made 2 of 3 baskets. Then we were off to church for my Thunderbolt Cheerleaders. They cheered for two of the 3rd/4th grade teams and did an awesome job!! We hung out at the church for the rest of the day until Connor's game which was the last one of the day. Connor played really well again and made several baskets! Connor helped in the snack bar for part of the day while Matthew helped Jeff with halftime games and worked the scoreboard/clock. It was a very fulfilling day! I am so glad that I finally listened to Jeff and got involved with Upward (but don't tell him!!:))

Tomorrow will be a full day also so I better say goodnight! I will post some of Connor's pictures as soon as I get a chance!

Matthew

Matthew is my first-born child. He is very serious. He is very curious. He knows everything that a 12 year old could possibly know about weather. He wants to grow up to be a meteorologist. He is so super smart! He is in the 7th grade at Wright Christian Academy. He does well in school and loves his school and classmates. He plays basketball for the 7th grade team and has really improved. He set a goal this season to make at least 2 points every game and so far he has done that! I am very proud at how far he has come since he began playing sports! It has been fun to watch him gain skill from year to year! When he was little, he did everything so quickly! He reached all his milestones early. Of course, he started out half grown!!! (10 1/2 lbs at birth!) He only would get interested in one kind of thing at a time. First, it was construction machines. He learned all the names and what they did. He would line all his machines up in a perfect line. Next, it was signs. He learned every kind of sign out there and even got his Granddaddy to make him some! Then at six years old, he became very interested in the weather! For the most part, he is still totally into the weather. Now, we have also added in football and basketball. I am serious-so super smart!!! I love his curiosity even when it isn't a subject that I am interested in. He is very helpful when it comes to helping my grandparents or someone else! Not so much for me! I love how close he is to my grandparents! My Grandpa and him have always been buddys! He is quickly growing up before my eyes and I know before I blink he will be grown and off to college! I can't believe 12 years have already passed by so quickly!!! I am proud of the young man of God he is becoming! He is part of the Lead Team in the youth group and loving the new stage in his growth in Christ!! Thank you God for the gift of Matthew which is exactly what his name means - Gift of God! I am so thankful to get to be your mom!

Day Two - Wow!!

This is my second day to blog! We had a pretty busy day!!! Jeff left this morning to go up to church today for referee's clinic and the boys, Gracyn and I headed over to my Grandma's house to meet my mom. My Grandma kept Gracyn while my mom and I took the boys shopping for the clothes they needed before they go back to school on Monday. Matthew needed a pair of school pants, jeans and tennis shoes. Connor needed 2 pairs of school pants and new tennis shoes. We headed to Old Navy and found all the clothes the boys needed plus a few extra things that were at good prices. Next, we headed to Famous Footwear and got the shoes taken care of. I even got a pair of shoes that would be good for wearing in the snow and are so super warm!

This afternoon, Jeff and Matthew headed to the TU basketball game and Connor and I headed to Target for groceries and then back to Grandma's to get Gracyn. This evening, Connor had a scrimmage at Upward that Jeff refereed. Connor and his best friend are playing up this year with the 5th & 6th graders. They have a lot of work to do to stay up with the big boys but they are hanging in there pretty well.

We have been so tired tonight. We came home and fixed chili dogs for dinner and then got Gracyn ready for bed. We have been just hanging out since then and are about ready for bed. It's been a good day but I am ready for bedtime and some good rest!

Have a peaceful and restful night!

Happy New Year!!! Wow!!! I can't believe it is 2010!!! I really want to start blogging about family happenings so I can have a place to look back and see what went on with our family!!! I have gotten so far behind on scrapbooking, so I am hoping that this will be some help one day when I can work on it!

We decided to take a short trip to Kansas City to visit wonderful friends, Paul & Kristina! We arrived on New Year's Eve and got to hang out and talk and catch up! The boys got to go sledding for the first time and had so much fun!!! Of course, I forgot my camera so I didn't get any pictures!!! We played games last night and ate and talked while we waited for midnight!!! We learned a new card game called Salad and it was so fun!!! I can't wait to play it with some of our friends!!!

This morning, we had a great breakfast and just hung out and visited!!! The boys played a game of football in the snow. When it came time to leave, the boys were trying to figure out all kinds of ways to stay or bring Paul & Kristina's boys home with us!! I am so glad that they get along so well and are like best buds every time we get together!!!

Gracyn turned 19 months today! Wow!! Can't believe it has been 19 months!! What a change and blessing she has brought to our lives!! She is such a princess and most important is she is God's Little Princess!!!

2009 had some good times and some bad! I have a good feeling about 2010 and am ready to embrace all that God has in store for us!!! I am so thankful for the place that God has me in right now!!! I love being a mom to two awesome young men and a little princess, I love being married to Jeff (even if we don't always see eye to eye-he is my best friend and soul mate!), I love being a part of the Children's Ministry Team at Liberty Church doing exactly what God has called me to be! I am looking forward to Upward season, not only watching Connor play, but working with our cheerleaders! I am so thankful for the opportunity to bless and serve these girls and families! Thank you God for all your blessings and for the new year!!!

Happy New Year!
Kim
